Kalashnikov (AK-47) Rifles intercepted in Nigeria

Officials with Nigeria's security services say they've intercepted 52 Kalashnikov rifles and tens of thousands of ammunition rounds heading for an area that has been the scene of religious violence... Nigeria's "middle belt," where dozens of ethnic groups vie for control of fertile lands. Hundreds of Christians and Muslims have died in fighting there this year alone...

Standard disclaimer: These guns are unmodified AK's, NOT the semi-automatic civilianized versions Politicians, Biased media, and Anti-gun nuts are so fond of lying about. It is unclear which side was smuggling in the weapons, but what is certain is that where there is conflict, someone will seek an advantage, despite U.N. Meddling and heavy-handed government tactics. What is important to note here is that although "hundreds" have been killed, there have been slim to nothing reported on this story, that is, until an anti-gun headline can be exploited with the usual scare tactic buzzwords like "AK-47" and "Kalashnikov" certain to generate attention. The type of firearm overshadows what should be more important, the loss of lives (which shows how little those in the west really care about a few hundred dead Africans).  As was once philosophized, "Where life is cheap, death is plentiful"...(S9)
