State and federal governments on Friday announced a major crackdown on the trade and possession of illegal weapons.
Federal Justice and Home Affairs Minister Jason Clare says the federal government will introduce legislation to create a maximum penalty of life in prison for people involved in the aggravated trafficking of firearms into Australia or across state borders....Mr Clare said..."That means making it easier to seize these weapons, breaking the code of silence that terrifies people to tell the police where firearms are...
He committed to funding the US Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agency to come to Australia to train police in tracing and tracking firearms....
There will also be a national roll-out of a firearms tracking system currently in use in NSW and the ACT...
The governments also reached an in-principle agreement to implement a national firearms register...
The move follows a major investigation into illegal firearms that found there were more than 250,000 illicit firearms in Australia...

Well, Well, Well...Now the U.S. Regime is importing the gun-walking BATFE "experts" offshore to help harass what few gun-owners are left in the Oz.
