Terror Tots Tote AK-47's in Propaganda Ploy

Al-Qaeda's sickening propaganda stunt uses infants, children
A tiny girl aged barely two sucks her fingers in childish innocence while grasping an AK-47 assault rifle almost as big as her.
The tot, in full Muslim dress, was made to pose with the weapon dubbed the "Widowmaker" as part of a sickening propaganda stunt staged by extremists of the Islamic Jihad Union, linked to al-Qaeda...which targets British and US troops...also pictured the girl and five other toddlers with heavy weapons in front of a black Islamic flag...Tory MP and former soldier Patrick Mercer said, "This is a most immoral use of young children."...

Total Gun Ban; Police Included

Comelec issues guidelines on 'total' gun ban
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday imposed a total gun ban by recalling the firearms permits of government security forces as well as private individuals acting as bodyguards of politicians. The total gun ban would be implemented for the duration of the election period from Jan. 10 to June 9, 2010. In Resolution 1814, the Comelec ordered the recall of permits of all gunholders, including law enforcement agencies and private security groups accredited by the Philippine National Police (PNP) as bodyguards for politicians...The resolution identifies those who may bear firearms, including the PNP, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), security personnel of the Philippine Ports Authority, Bureau of Immigration, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Bureau of Customs, Manila International Airport Authority and accredited security agencies. This means private individuals, acting as bodyguards of politicians, will no longer be allowed to carry firearms...Brawner...explained that pending the crafting of an implementation plan, the AFP and the PNP are only allowed to designate a maximum of two persons for security escort duties to candidates seeking local positions. “The objective of this actually is to remove the politicians’ use of private armed groups,” he said.

WA Political Hacks seek ban on sales of semi-automatic firearms

In response to recent shooting deaths, three state lawmakers say they want to ban the sale of military-style semi-automatic weapons in Washington...
The legislation, called the Aaron Sullivan Public Safety and Police Protection Bill, would prohibit the sale of such weapons to private citizens and require current owners to pass background checks.
It is named for Aaron Sullivan, 18, who was fatally shot last July in Seattle's Leschi neighborhood, allegedly with an assault-style weapon.
Supporters say they also are motivated by the Oct. 31 slaying of Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton and the wounding of his partner. Police believe a .223-caliber semi-automatic rifle was used then.
The bill is backed by Seattle's police department, spokeswoman Renee Witt said. Also pushing it is Washington Ceasefire, a nonprofit that seeks to reduce gun violence. The group plans a news conference today to announce the proposal.
The lawmakers who plan to sponsor the bill are Rep. Ross Hunter, D-Medina; Sen. Adam Kline, D-Seattle; and Sen. Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle.
The ban would cover semiautomatics designed for military use that are capable of rapid-fire and can hold more than 10 rounds. Semiautomatics designed for sporting or hunting purposes wouldn't be banned.
"If they're used in the army, used in the war — that's what this ban is about," said Ralph Fascitelli, the board president of Washington Ceasefire.
Dave Workman, senior editor of Gun Week, a publication of the Second Amendment Foundation in Bellevue, said such a ban would punish law-abiding citizens who own such guns. "I don't care if my neighbor has a dozen of the things; ... as long as he's not hurting anyone or breaking any laws, leave him alone," Workman said.
He also said he doesn't consider the gun police say was used to kill Brenton an assault rifle....
(Democrat Hunter said)"We don't allow people to own tanks or bazookas or machine guns, and very few people think that that's an unreasonable restriction"...Kohl-Welles said...she doesn't believe such a ban would violate the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. "Did the framers of our Constitution ever envision something like a semi-automatic weapon?" she asked.

The Yemeni tradition of firing (full) automatic

In 2007, the Yemeni government began implementing an ambitious disarmament and weapons-registration campaign in Sanaa, the nation's capital, and in many other cities around the country. The upshot is that Yemenis can no longer carry, brandish or fire weapons of any sort in urban and semi-urban districts — even on their sons' wedding nights.
"People still [fire guns] in the villages. You'll see it all over out there," said Muammar Abdul Jaleel, who runs a wedding supplies store in Sanaa. He mimes firing an AK-47 in large half-circles above in head and laughs out loud. "But in the cities? No, no, no. Not anymore."
For the most part, urban Yemenis are in favor of the disarmament campaign (Show me the proof of that or it is just a biased opinion! - S9), and are willing to simply adapt their old traditions to a new, gun-less environment...Most urban grooms now pose for pictures with an ornamental assault rifle instead of the real thing. (A least one particularly entrepreneurial vendor in Sanaa has begun renting out bedazzled, gold-inflected AK-47s for just that purpose, Jaleel, the store owner, said.)...But a handful of Yemenis (Again, show me the proof of that or it is just a biased opinion! - S9) say the government's anti-gun campaigns are an affront to not only wedding traditions, but also to a deeply revered sense of autonomy among tribal and community leaders.
"Firing guns for celebrations has been a tradition passed on from father to son for generations," said Abdullah Hassan, who has lived in Sanaa for the last six years, but grew up in a small village, where owning a gun is a symbol of social status and manhood. "Guns are a part of being Yemeni," he said.
While there are no good statistics on how many guns are in Yemen today, a United Nations-sponsored study from 2007 indicated there are up to 17 million firearms in Yemen, a country of only 22 million people. Other internal studies and media reports put the number of guns around 50 million.
"Every man in Yemen has a gun. Every single man," said Mohammed Said, a student in Sanaa. "That will never go away."...
"Of course the availability of arms in the hands of citizens provides a base for extremism and terrorism,"(Again, show me the proof of that or it is just a biased opinion! - S9) said Sheikh Abdul-Rahman Al-Marwani, the president of Dar Al-Salam, a Sanaa-based organization that works to disarm citizens and mediate armed tribal disputes in the Yemeni countryside...
Al-Marwani said the massive proliferation of guns in Yemen is due in part to the fact that many Yemenis have no faith in the judicial system, and so turn to guns to defend themselves...
Other scholars attribute Yemen's pervasive gun culture to the succession of highly armed regimes — the Ottomans, the British and then the Soviets — that dominated Yemen throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, and left their weapons behind when they split town...
Yemeni officials have proposed two bills in the last four years — one in 2005 and one in 2007 — that would have restricted the sale of firearms or required licenses for existing firearms. Both were met with scathing opposition by tribal leaders in the Yemeni parliament. Neither passed...

Media Bias: "Arsenals"(A Comparison)

The mendacious anti-gun media mind-controllers continually misconstrue what an "arsenal" is when referring to "civilian" owned firearms. This entry uses recent "news" reports as examples, where I will demonstrate what is and is not an "arsenal". Keep this in mind the next time you encounter one of these stories, or when some twit starts woofing about some poor shulb with a few firearms having a so-called "arsenal".
First up, a Police state raids their subjects who have armed themselves for self-defense out of necessity:
Special Ops seizes large quantities of firearms and ammunition in Bulgarian village "In the aftermath of the police operation, local residents told police that they were left with no other alternative but to keep firearms in their homes to protect themselves from burglars and attacks.
"No one protects us here, unless we do it ourselves. Last night they stole my cow with 25kg milk. They took her out of the village and butchered her. And there is no one to defend my wife at home" Petko Krustev told the police, quoted by the BNT
"I would buy a firearm. I would get one illegally if I could. They broke into my house and stole everything of value that I had," said Ivan Kazashki, another local resident.
Police reported that they unearthed firearms and ammunition in every home they searched. Rossen Ivanov from the Interior Ministry's department in Vratsa said that hundreds of items, including firearms, rifles, hunting rifles, self-made attributes and others were seized along with bundles of ammunition.
"It is obvious that that the locals here do not exactly rely on the police much, if they keep hardware in such massive quantities around," he said...[Full Story @:http://sofiaecho.com/2009/11/26/821583_special-ops-seizes-large-quantities-of-firearms-and-ammunition-in-bulgarian-village?ref=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss2%2Fall-news+%28The+Sofia+Echo%29]

Now, a typical American example, from the gun-hostile state of New Jersey, as usual, dredging up the "Assault Weapons" Boogieman for maximum scare quotient:
40 weapons, including assault rifles, seized from resident’s home
"Police arrived at Furesz’ home with a search warrant at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, responding to a report that the suspect had made terroristic threats. "Subsequent to the search, we found 40 weapons in the house – 26 long guns, 14 handguns – some of the long guns are potentially assault rifles," (WTF is that supposed to mean, "potentially"? "We don't know what they are but they look scary"? Incompetent fools! - S9)...many of the weapons were loaded. Also among the cache of weapons were knives, swords, crossbows, and some other "unidentified incendiary devices,"..."the department does not have any information that would indicate that Furesz was targeting anyone in particular or had threatened any particular individual or government entity with a weapon, he stated, "I am comfortable in the fact that we took these guns off the street."[Full Story @:http://www.northjersey.com/news/40_weapons_including_assault_rifles_seized_from_residents_home.html].
Now, admittedly, this mo-mo Furesz is a knucklehead with 4 non-violent felonies on his record and knew damn well better than to have firearms (much less alleged "incendiaries", probably firecrackers) in his digs (not on the "street" BTW), however, there are plenty of law-abiding citizens with bigger collections than this that are no danger to society. This is not a so-called "arsenal". Now, in the following report, I will say, (paraphrasing Crocodile Dundee on the knife issue) that THIS is an "Arsenal"...
Massacre suspect had enough weapons 'to arm a battalion'Raid on house reveals cache including rifles and machine guns "among the heavy weapons found within Andal Jr's compound were weapons such as two 90mm recoilless rifles, a 57mm recoilless rifle, three 60mm mortar tubes, four M60 light machine guns, an Ultimax machine gun, two 81mm mortar tubes and 50 calibre Barret(sic) sniper rifle...Ownership of such a highly accurate and lethal weapon is restricted by the Philippine government to the armed forces. Asides(sic)from these heavy weapons, also seized from Andal Jr's residence were five assault rifles as well as 11 pistols and boxes of ammunition...authorities seized an armoured personnel carrier and several weapons in a vacant lot fronting the house" [Full story @:http://gulfnews.com/news/world/philippines/massacre-suspect-had-enough-weapons-to-arm-a-battalion-1.545969]
Now it should be noted that the holding of crew served Infantry weapons by this individual, comparatively speaking to the prior examples, pushes this into the 'Arsenal" category, in my view, based on the intent these weapons posed in the hands of the private army using them, specifically the massacre of unarmed civilians: Not war, but murder. There are hundreds of individuals who own machineguns as collectors items and use them for exhibition purposes only, and therefore are no danger to society.. So, I submit that use of the term "Arsenal" as inflammatory propaganda is in fact a relative one, and when it comes to photo op scare-tactic media bias, the conclusion is foregone. There is a huge difference between a millionaire collector in Tennessee or Arizona legally owning such gear to live fire once a year under controlled conditions at Knob Creek range Vs. 250 murderous dope-addled ramshackle rebels terrorizing villages in the Congo or Somalia, much less the Cartel killers on our own southern border. To agree or disagree is irrelevant, because it is a fact. I say that anyone who cannot (or refuses to) wrap their mind around such a simple concept is a hopeless fool to start with...S9

Group seeks Semi-Auto Ban, Legalize Illegal Aliens

A binational task force on U.S.-Mexico border issues will call...on the Obama administration and Congress to reinstate an expired ban on assault weapons and for Mexico to overhaul its frontier police and customs agencies to mirror the U.S. Department of Homeland Security...Skeptics say...the southbound flow of weapons into Mexico -- where private gun ownership is illegal -- has been a flashpoint as Mexico's death toll from drug-related violence has topped 15,000. In Mexico City in April, Obama pledged to push the Senate to ratify an inter-American arms-trafficking treaty but backed away from a campaign promise to reinstate a ban on assault weapons that Congress let expire in 2004. Obama said that it would be too difficult politically to enact new gun legislation soon and that enforcing existing measures would have a more immediate effect. Mexican officials want a ban, saying that 90 percent of guns seized in drug crimes in Mexico and submitted for tracing to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives originate in the United States, including most assault rifles...If the United States legalizes most of its illegal immigrants and allows for a flexible flow of legal workers, Mexico should stop illegal immigration from its side of the border, the panel said...//Full story @:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/12/AR2009111211331.html

AR-style rifles spurring some debate

Increasingly across the country, big-game hunters are heading into the woods carrying AR-style or so-called "black" rifles, ones that look like they came straight off the military's front lines.. manufacturers that once built AR-style rifles solely for use by law enforcement or recreational target shooters, such as DPMS Panther Arms, are now making rifles in big-game calibers such as the .308 specifically for hunters...Even the venerable Remington Arms began building two AR rifles this year, the R-15 and R-25, the former for varmint hunters and the latter for big-game hunters..But the trend nationally is for more and more hunters to be carrying ARs. That's generating a lot of debate, and a lot of sensitivity. In the general public, ARs have often mistakenly been called assault riflesthough AR stands for Armalite, the company that first developed them in the 1950sand been incorrectly lumped in with the kind of automatic weapons targeted for federal gun bans. The result is that few people have been willing to talk about them...Full Story @: http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/outdoors/s_652019.html?

M-4 & M249's Fail in Full-Auto Combat, Troops Claim

In 2008 Afghanistan Firefight, U.S. M4 Rifles Failed
a small but vocal number of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq has complained that the standard-issue M4 rifles need too much maintenance and jam at the worst possible times..Complaints about the weapons the troops carry, especially the M4, aren't new. Army officials say that when properly cleaned and maintained, the M4 is a quality weapon..U.S. special operations forces, with their own acquisition budget and the latitude to buy gear the other military branches can't, already are replacing their M4s with a new rifle...Battlefield surveys show that nearly 90 percent of soldiers are satisfied with their M4s...soldiers said their weapons were meticulously cared for and routinely inspected by commanders. But still the weapons had breakdowns, especially when the rifles were on full automatic...

Cops Rifle Stolen, Biased Media Rejoices...

Wheeling Officer's Assault Weapon Stolen and on the Streets, Chief Said
Story by Leigh Ann Towne
This M-16 rifle was stolen on Oct. 21, and an internal investigation is underway.
Wheeling Police Chief Robert Matheny says the SWAT officer had every right to carry his weapon in his own vehicle, but someone broke into it and stole the M-16 from underneath the seat. The chief now is concerned because the weapon is out on the streets and he admits now he's rethinking policies on officers carrying assault weapons....

Ms. Towne bursts with anti-gun rhetoric, using incorrect and inflammatory terms like "assault weapons" without hesitation, and the so-called "Police Chief" appears to be the usual anti-gun political boot-licker commonly found in these jobs. This is so badly written, we do not know if the firearm is semi-automatic or a machinegun, but it is clear that it does not matter, being a scary evil "assault weapon" is enough to brainwash the gullible public, right? So the Cop had his gun stolen, big deal, $hit happens, won't be the first or last time, but the bigger picture is this: Most criminals get their guns in just this manner, by perpetrating crime! The significance of this is (intentionally?) ignored and avoided here, instead going for the sensationalist "assault weapon" scare tactic dramatics is what the editorial slant deems important, in this textbook example of media bias unleashed.

What's triggering a shortage of guns?

"Three main elements that have been behind this are the potential for pending legislation on the federal level, a federal administration that doesn't have any regard for the rights of individuals, and just a general sense of uncertainty," said Paul Gauffin, of State Line Gun Shop...Of even greater concern to gun owners would be legislation from Washington that could reinforce long-feared reforms, including federal reinstatement of the ban on some semiautomatic rifles and increases in federal excise taxes on ammunition...right now they have no 380- or 45-caliber, or 30 carbine ammo for target shooting. "Carbine (semi-automatic), used in World War II, used to be cheap to shoot. Now we can't get (ammo for) it," he said. "And if we don't have bullets, we're out of business."

Saudis allowed to buy firearms openly (Including Semi-Autos)

Unlicensed possession of firearms incurs a punishment of eight months jail and a SR6,000 fine.

Death by hanging proposed for Owning Semi-Automatic Firearms

Owners of illegal guns and police officers who rent their firearms to criminals could soon face the death penalty...Law enforcement agencies are pushing for tighter gun control and have proposed a raft of tough measures to be discussed by the Cabinet soon. These include an amendment to the Firearms Act, the law governing the legal ownership of guns.
According to the latest proposals contained in the National Policy on Small Arms and Light Weapons, no one will be allowed to own an AK-47 rifle, a G3 or “any automatic or semi-automatic self-loading military assault rifle of any other calibre”...Anyone found guilty of having one will be hanged. The policy is a follow-up of a letter to the Attorney General dated February 12, 2007. The letter from the then Police Commissioner, Maj-Gen Hussein Ali, had proposed that the death sentence be imposed on criminals with illegal firearms and civilians who misuse licensed guns.
The AG is yet to act on the recommendations. He instead proposed that the death sentence be reduced to life imprisonment.
Another memorandum from the Commissioner of Police to the Attorney General has now recommended that imposing the maximum penalty for gun crime is the only way to curb the misuse of weapons, which have been blamed for the high crime rate and banditry in parts of the country.
It also proposes that anyone who handles a gun while drunk be jailed for five years without the option of a fine. Under the current laws, such offenders are jailed for a year or fined Sh20,000.
The proposals were prepared by the National Steering Committee on Peace Building and Conflict Management in the Office of the President and a unit on the control of the proliferation of small and light weapons in the police force....Top on the minds of the authors of the memorandum was the concern that illegal weapons could be used in election-related violence in 2012.
In 2008, 1,133 people were killed in post-election chaos, sparking fears that the violence could be worse in 2012.
Both the memo and the National Policy on Small Arms and Light Weapons warn that Kenyans are increasingly exposed to the danger of weapons finding their way into the country illegally through its borders and also through Lake Victoria. Kenya’s border with war-ravaged Somalia is one of the major entry points of illegal firearms.
The idea behind the tough proposals is to enhance the punishment provided for in the Firearms Act section 4(3), which prohibits the purchase, acquisition and possession of firearms or ammunition without a certificate. The current sentence is a jail term of between seven and 15 years.
If the proposal is accepted and becomes law, offences under that section will be punishable by death...gun owners who fail to renew their licenses will be fined Sh1,000, up from the current Sh500, while licensed gun owners who fail to produce their permit will be fined Sh50,000, up from Sh10,000...
Concealing the serial number of a weapon will attract 10 years in prison without the option of a fine, up from the current five years.
Unregistered gun dealers will be jailed for between 10 and 15 years, while those who give false information when registering as gun dealers will be jailed for five years without the option of a fine.
Selling guns or bullets in a place which is not authorised under the law will attract a jail term of not less than 15 years, according to the proposal.
Security personnel or top government officials who are found armed and drunk will be jailed for five years...The national policy on small arms is intended to reduce the number of weapons in public hands, bring together all laws related to weapons, help cooperation with other countries and inform the public about the danger posed by guns.

It is feared villagers in Rift Valley province are moving from traditional weapons such as spears to machine guns.
Government officials insist they are tackling the influx of illegal arms.
But they have been widely criticised for failing to punish the ringleaders of violence after the 2007 election, in which 1,300 people died.
A power-sharing government was formed in early 2008 to quell the violence.
It has been under international pressure to investigate the killings ever since, but its failure to organise a local tribunal has forced the International Criminal Court to step in to prosecute suspects...

Toronto Cops Confiscate 400 Guns from law-abiding citizens(!)

Toronto police have seized 400 guns from law-abiding owners whose licences had expired or been revoked.

Project Safe City saw police seize unlicensed guns within Toronto. Owners were given the option to pay to renew their licences and pick them up again, or to forfeit the weapon. The 400 guns shown yesterday were forfeited. None of the owners were charged.

"This is a crime-prevention initiative," said Superintendent Greg Getty of Toronto's guns and gangs unit.

Korea to sell war-era Semi-Automatic rifles back to US

South Korea has come up with a novel way to boost its defence budget - by selling a vast stockpile of old Korean-war rifles to collectors in the US.
The guns were originally sent to Korea as military aid, and some were also used during the war in Vietnam.
For more than five decades, they have been kept mothballed in warehouses.
Most of those on offer are M1 rifles - a weapon once described by US General George S Patton as "the greatest battle-implement ever devised".
The rifles and carbines were originally sent by the Americans to help during the Korean war.
Since then they have occasionally glimpsed daylight, in training exercises for reserve forces, according to the BBC's correspondent in Seoul, John Sudworth.
But for the most part these weapons have been quietly gathering value as collector's items, our correspondent says.
A total of 86,000 M1 rifles will be sold, and another 22,000 carbines - although these have a more patchy reputation.
In the Korean war they had a reputation for jamming in extreme cold weather conditions, and complaints were recorded from US troops that they often failed to stop heavily clothed North Korean or Chinese soldiers at short range.
-------------------------------
Story from:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8271041.stm
-------------------------------
That bit about M1 Carbines is misleading. First, those guns were M2 Carbines, the full-automatic version, and yes, there were some reports that enemy troops with wet/frozen quilted uniforms absorbed .30 carbine ball, much like a wet phone book will slow down/stop a round. Much of this had to do more with the extreme cold conditions and the bullet shape of military ball than the carbine per se. Also: All firearms, including Garands and Browning machineguns functioned poorly in the cold in both Korea and WW2 europe, hence those stories about troops urinating on the actions to get them functioning again. At least we will get these weapons back in the hands of collectors, unlike the M-1's and M-14's that Bill "Ban em" Clinton ordered smelted and destroyed by Presidential order! You did hear about that, right?...I'll have a carbine or two myself, how to make it California legal is the question, because I want it with the "Paratrooper" stock /;-) I wonder if the NFA types will be able to get any M2 full-auto Carbines? -S9

U.N. Anti-gun push in Africa; AK-47 Machineguns targeted (Media Bias)

(WARNING:This is a biased anti-gun & racist propaganda report on criminal activity used to smear lawful gun owners by comparative implication to armed anti-social elements. These are the same do-gooding fools who lie about semi-auto "AK-47's" in the US, equating them with the full-auto machineguns discussed in this article, seeking to destroy the 2nd Amendment. Wayne LaPierre has written a book about these propagandist gun grabbers, get it at www.NRA.org)...
The UN reckons there are some 500m small arms in circulation around the world. At least 70m are Kalashnikovs. The Soviet-designed automatic assault rifle, the Avtomat Kalashnikova, was first manufactured in 1947 (hence its commonest version, the AK-47). Its compactness and durability have made it Africa’s killing weapon of choice since the 1980s, despite its inaccuracy. These days, the continent has all of the score of Kalashnikov variants, including the AKM, the Chinese Type 56, and the Serbian Zastava M70.

Only a small share of the thousands of hapless Africans killed every year by Kalashnikovs (Note: "killed by kalashnikovs" NOT "killed by someone ARMED with a Kalashnikov"! Weasel mind-control words, Reader! - S9) die in war. Most are victims of the police, robbers, cattle raiders and tribal skirmishes. In an attempt to make it harder for organised criminals to arm themselves, and in a nod to global counter-terrorist efforts, a group of ten eastern and central African countries, including Ethiopia, Rwanda and Uganda, which owe their liberation movements partly to the Kalashnikov, has agreed to harmonise gun laws. It has promised longer sentences for people who carry guns illegally and new electronic marking of state-owned weapons in the hope of cutting the number of Kalashnikovs seeping into the black market, where they are bought more cheaply than anywhere else in the world. The going rate in Somalia and Sudan is around $400, much cheaper than in Asia.

Police chiefs from this new African club of countries paraded their claimed success in curbing the small-arms trade by inviting journalists to watch piles of confiscated rifles being burnt. But that is unlikely to hurt the shadowy, highly profitable illegal trade. New Kalashnikovs keep flowing into Africa. Only a fraction gets confiscated.

Last year a hijacked Ukrainian ship with a cargo of tanks bound for South Sudan was also carrying 10,000 AKs and ammunition, according to the Small Arms Survey, a Swiss-based pressure group. British intelligence last month flagged up what may have been another Ukrainian attempt to export Kalashnikovs to Africa from its Soviet-era stockpiles. It is easy to sell the weapons once they reach Africa. Borders are porous. Corruption eases the flow. Arms dealers can readily buy forged licences and paperwork from officials.

The Kalashnikovs’ popularity puts a premium on the 7.62 x 39mm calibre bullets, which often cost more than those used in rifles such as the German G3 and the old British Lee-Enfield. African policemen and soldiers are often tempted to sell the bullets illegally, since they can each fetch as much as $1 or more. Tracking the ammo is tricky. It is seldom stamped, its provenance often even murkier than that of the guns.

In the harsh Turkana region of northern Kenya a British small-arms specialist, James Bevan, found Kalashnikov cartridges from 25 countries and 51 factories. Half of them, he reckons, had been bought or pilfered from state armouries.

"Assault Weapons" 2009 (Report)-A Mandatory Read

"They reveal that goal in their legislation. These bills aren’t just about “AK-47s and Uzis” anymore. Legislation to require a federal license to possess any detachable-magazine, semi-automatic rifle or shotgun, or any handgun, has been introduced in Congress. Legislation to reimpose the federal “assault weapon” and “large capacity” magazine ban of 1994, or an even broader ban--both introduced in the last two congresses--is sure to follow. And legislation to ban all semi-automatic and pump-action firearms, starting with those that use detachable magazines, has been pro-posed in the past and may not be far behind...legislation to ban all semi-automatics and pump-actions, will become law may depend in part on whether the 1994 ban is reimposed, a position supported by President Obama...that will ultimately force gun control supporters to push for a ban on all detachable-magazine firearms: Any firearm that uses a detachable magazine can use one of any size...

Florida Pol wants new Semi-Auto Ban (More myths, lies & evil propaganda)

The longtime NRA lobbyist in Tallahassee, Marion Hammer, has registered objections to Shaw with the governor and his staff.
"We're adamantly opposed to Clay Shaw," she said.

Shaw, who served in the U.S. House from 1981 to 2007, said he was baffled by the NRA's outspoken opposition to him and called the assault weapons ban "a separate thing from gun control."
"I represented Dade County at the time and the assault weapon was the weapon of choice if you were robbing someone," he said. "I don't back away from that vote at all. But I don't think that has anything to do with sportsmen or hunting or owning a gun. Assault weapons are designed to kill people, it's as simple as that."
Hammer doesn't buy that explanation. "A gun is a gun is a gun," she said. "And if you'll vote to ban one, you'll vote to ban another."

The assault weapons ban outlawed 19 types of weapons, such as military-style AK-47s and Uzis. The 1994 ban, signed by President Clinton, expired after 10 years and hasn't been reauthorized.
The issue isn't moot. President Obama wants to reinstate the ban, although it's lower on his to-do list than bigger items like health care reform.

“Assault Weapons” Excite The Media Once Again

While the national media may delight in highlighting such incidents, including mis-labeling semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15 as “assault weapons,” there in fact is nothing illegal about a person openly carrying a firearm at many such public events in many states, including Arizona and Georgia. If the firearms were fully automatic (as “assault rifles” by definition are), or were being carried by a person already “disabled” under federal law from possessing a firearm, or if there were local or state laws prohibiting such action, then it might warrant a passing reference in the news. But simply carrying a firearm lawfully under federal and state law, should not be newsworthy...I’m not sure I understand why a person would openly tote a rifle or sidearm at a political rally of any sort, including one at which a president is speaking; other than to just make a point of some sort. But if the media would simply let it be, and especially if they would stop labelling firearms that are not “assault weapons” as “assault weapons” simply to inflame viewers, we’d all be better off. But somehow I doubt that will happen...

Not only that, but some reports cropped the visual of the man with the semi-auto and spliced the footage to conceal that he was Black, (and therefore did not fit the predjucicial stereotype of gun-owners as racist "Yahoos" so fond with the leftist oriented media elitists). Yes, it was a pre-planned "publicity stunt", with some of the more interesting responses never being used on the airwaves due to the alleged "anomaly" of a Black Conservo-Libertarian gun owner verbally outwitting antigun drones who complained about him carrying the AR (One woman told him she was "offended" with him being armed around her children, to which he retorted that it was not so long ago that his negritude would have been more than enough for her to be "offended around her kids". This truism shut her down in short order). Author Barr feigns ignorance on the issue, and knows full well what "point" the pranksters were making, but appears to want to stay in the middle of the road in this case, which is his prerogative (He may want to run for office again, after all). It was somewhat amusing to see the anti-gun media running-dogs frothing and bumbling attempting to spin this stunt as negatively as possible (to again demonize gun-owners and semi-automatics), exposing them, once more, as the biased fools they are...S-9

Daley asks why citizens need "assault weapons"(More Myths, Lies, & Evil Propaganda)

CBS2 Chicago ran a video of the Mayor's question with a piece by Political Editor Mike Flannery:
"Now think of that. Here's the mayor of the city of Chicago asking people to turn in assault weapons," Mayor Daley said. "We're not in Iraq. We're not in Afghanistan. We're in America. We're asking 'em to turn in assault weapons. What do we need an assault weapon in America for?"
The trouble with rhetorical questions is that people often answer them. For instance, someone could point out that Americans have a legally-protected right to keep and bear arms, and it's not up to the Mayor to decide which ones. Others might point out that the weapons the Mayor calls "assault weapons" actually aren't any such things. They were labeled as "assault weapons" under Chicago's Municipal Code years ago in order to excuse the city's decision to ban them...The weapons Mayor Daley was talking about are semi-automatic weapons that look like fully-automatic assault rifles . . . but they aren't the same...

Gun owners angry after siege sparks new rules: Clampdown on Semi-Autos

Last week police began an advertising campaign...outlining what defined an ``MSSA'' (military style semi-automatic) and how owners of such weapons had to change their licensing or hand them in. Internet gun auction site GunStuff owner Mark Fogarin said the reclassification was "causing much confusion and frustration throughout New Zealand's firearms community"...Many gun owners are angry at the changes, with some taking official steps to try to stop them. One has applied for a judicial review of the police decision, while a group has complained to the Independent Police Conduct Authority...Gun owners have been told that if they own a semi-automatic firearm with a ``military pattern, free-standing pistol grip'', it is now considered a military-style semi-automatic firearm. Owners must undergo more stringent vetting than for standard A-class endorsed licences and are required to have a more secure safe for weapons, costing upwards of $1000.
The newly formed National Shooters Association, which says it has about 60 members, has complained to the Independent Police Conduct Authority. Association president Richard Lincoln said police were spending $60,000 advertising a policy decision that was being challenged in the High Court. He had applied for a judicial review of the change in police interpretation of the weapons.
Firearm law consultant David Wood said the police move was a "pointless bureaucratic knee-jerk reaction to blame the good guys"...

Kiwi gun owners let the forces of evil browbeat them into a gun ban and are now finally realizing that nothing will ever be enough to satisfy them. Just like in the UK, once the guns are useless for self-defense, "suddenly" there is a "new" crime "problem" with so called "knife crime" (like no one was getting cut before the ban? Bollocks!). Again we see the usual cynical tactics of blaming the law-abiding for the criminal acts of a deranged narcissistic killer who cared only about himself, unjustifiably tarring the responsible with the same brush. We also see again the demonizing of the normal semi-automatic as somehow magically morphing overnight into something "more dangerous" and "evil", blatant propaganda mind-control lies!. It's good to see the gunowners finally trying to get their gonads back and rebelling against this arbitrary action by an arrogant and tyrannical out of control Police agency, however, it may be too little to late. Here's hoping and praying they will prevail against the injustices and injuries being forced upon them! Fight the good fight, Kiwis!!! - S9

Prospects dim for Mexican firearms treaty

President Obama's call for the Senate to ratify a hemispheric small-firearms treaty dominated his last visit to Mexico, but in the four months since, both the treaty pledge and the drug violence that prompted it have dropped off the radar - a victim of Congress' full schedule and gun politics...Mexico, which blames the U.S. for many of the weapons used by drug cartels that have violently thwarted a crackdown by Mexican authorities. And even though Mr. Obama and his administration have accepted that blame, prospects are dim for passage of the treaty, which calls on countries to license gun manufacturers and try to control illicit trafficking in firearms, ammunition and explosives...But the National Rifle Association now claims CIFTA could hurt hunters and says U.S. Second Amendment interests should not be controlled by an international treaty. Key senators such as Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat whose gun-rights credentials may be crucial to his winning re-election next year, was cool to Mr. Obama's call for ratification in April, and a spokesman said nothing has changed since. "We must work with Mexico to curtail the violence and drug trafficking on America's southern border, and must protect Americans' Second Amendment rights," Mr. Reid said in April. "I look forward to working with the president to ensure we do both in a responsible way."
Treaties require a two-thirds vote by the Senate to be ratified - probably an impossible goal, given opposition from both sides of the aisle.
Chris W. Cox, the National Rifle Association's chief lobbyist, would not give a tally, but said that "there are a number of both Republicans and Democrats who share our concerns about the potential for abuse should this treaty be ratified."...Obama vowed in April to push the long-languishing CIFTA and shoulder some responsibility, calling small-arms trafficking "a source of so many of the weapons used in this drug war."...NRA says firearms manufactured in the U.S. are already heavily regulated, and said the treaty could have "serious impacts on recreation and hunting activities" and could affect those who hand-load ammunition at home.
"The United States is already doing our part, and we shouldn't have our freedoms dumbed down to [the level of] other countries that haven't done theirs,
" Mr. Cox said...Among the 33 signatories, all but four - Canada, Jamaica and the Caribbean island nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as the U.S. - have ratified it.

Sestak calls for new ban on "assault weapons"

Two days after announcing his candidacy for the U.S. Senate, U.S. Rep. Joseph Sestak, D-7, of Edgmont, urged his colleagues in the Legislature to reinstate an assault weapons ban that expired in 2004...Typically, gun control is seen as a radioactive issue during statewide elections in Pennsylvania, which has a large contingent of hunters and gun owners on both sides of the aisle...Sestak is therefore reviving a bill that died in committee last session, which he and 67 other House Democrats had co-sponsored...That bill would revise the definition of a “semi-automatic assault weapon” to include any semiautomatic rifle or pistol that has specific characteristics, such as a telescoping stock, and can accept a detachable magazine...The bill also would prohibit the importation of any such weapon; “conversion kits” to turn weapons into semi-automatics; and the transfer of any assault weapon with a large-capacity ammunition-feeding device.
Semi-automatic shotguns, pistols and rifles like the AK-47, the SKS, the UZI and the Bushmaster XM15 would fall under the ban
, according to the release.
Incumbent U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., Sestak’s opponent in the 2010 Senatorial primary election, said a hearing on the merits of such legislation should be held prior to any legislative action.
Specter pointed to studies performed by the Department of Justice and the Centers for Disease Control, which have brought into question the effectiveness of banning assault weapons, and said in his experience as the former District Attorney of Philadelphia that long jail terms were traditionally the best way to deal with gun violence.
“The study commissioned by DOJ found that although there was a decline in gun crimes involving assault weapons during the ban, a renewal of the ban would have a small effect on gun violence, perhaps too small for reliable measurement since assault weapons are rarely used in gun crimes,” said Specter.
Former U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey, a Republican Senatorial candidate, also weighed in on Sestak’s call to reinstate the ban.
Whenever there’s an outrageous criminal use of guns, liberals like Joe Sestak always try to penalize law-abiding gun-owners rather than holding the criminals responsible,” said Toomey in a statement. “Sestak is wrong. We should punish criminals and protect gun ownership rights.”....

Aussies Admit their Gun Ban a Failure(but don't realize it)

"Law enforcement agencies involved in this week's counter-terrorism raids have claimed semi-automatic and automatic weapons, rather than explosives, were to be used in the alleged plot to attack the Holsworthy army barracks in Sydney. Long-barrelled semi-automatic guns were outlawed by former prime minister John Howard after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. And there was a crackdown on semi-automatic hand guns after the Monash University shooting seven years ago. But according to a criminologist at Bond University, Professor Paul Wilson, there are still many semi-automatic and automatic guns around"..."Some have been stolen and of course we know that a few years ago rocket launchers were stolen from army bases."..."Mr Wilson says automatic and semi-automatic weapons can be accessed through crime gangs. 'I think the evidence from investigative reporters and from criminals themselves, and of course informally from the police, is that it is possible to get semi-automatic weapons, indeed weapons of all sorts, right across Australia,' he said"...

Moronic mind-control propaganda designed for the unquestioning gullible masses that don't realize this only proves the fact that banning the firearms of law-abiding citizens is an abject failure, since they are now left-handedly admitting the obvious fact that criminals can and as always obtain "hot" guns on the black market.(The facts of history supports the reality that there will always be a few misfits willing to break laws and murder their unarmed victim fellowmen, which is why good people need to be armed for self & societal defense). Never ending torrent of lies fuel gun control

"If you don't have the truth on your side, just make things up as you go. That seems to be the motto of the gun control movement. Misleading facts, skewed statistics, and outright lies are the meat and potatoes of their efforts to nudge public opinion in their favor. Take, for example, the issue of controlling the flow of illegal guns into Mexico, a lie that has been exposed in this column, as well as by several other Gun Rights Examiners. It is simply not true that 90% of the guns used by the Mexican drug cartels come from the United States, but saying so makes it easier to follow up with applying international pressure to reinstate the failed "assault weapons ban." Now, they're trying the same lie to get pressure from Canada as well"...

Mexican official:Summit focus:Banning U.S. Semi-Auto Firearms

Mexico also wants more gun control in the U.S., particularly when it comes to assault weapons.

I would like to see the assault weapons ban reinstated it’s not philosophical, it’s because of what we have seen on the groundThere is a direct correlation between the assault ban and expiring in 2004 and the numbers – simply the sheer numbers – of assault weapons that we seize in MexicoWe are both cognizant of what can and cannot be done right now – we will softly, diplomatically…continue to say that this is an important issue for us but I think the real perspectives of this moving on Capitol Hill these days are slim to say the least,” the official said.

““The Mexican government is not about challenging the Second Amendment. That’s a sovereign decision of the United States. It’s a sovereign decision of the U.S. Congress. That’s up to you guys. But the Second Amendment wasn’t adopted by the Founding Fathers to allow transnational organized crime to illicitly buy weapons in the Unites States and be illicitly cross them over international borders into countries where those calibers and types of weapons are prohibited,” the official said.

They know it's a big lie, yet see a chance to get it done under the Obanmustist administration, despite the phony pious oh-so-politically correct pronouncements seen above. These bumbling fools, with extreme draconian gun control for their law-abiding citizens are, like their pal Obama, elitists who do not trust their own people to be armed for self-defense (the last time, there was a bloody revolution and they do not want that happening again! Mexico has continually had a Bandit problem since the 1800's, with plenty of unarmed prey. The cartels are merely the latest manifestation of what their anti-gun laws have produced) and by extension, insists that the US Government adopt the same mendacious stance(?). A country like that has no flippin' business telling the USA what to do when it comes to firearms!. Mexico has a monopoly on armed force, yet look at their crime emergency, with the cartels shooting it out in the streets even after they have sent in their heaviest armed forces: The Army & National Police(!) and guess what: They are having their butts handed to them!. The unarmed civilians are still not safe; shot, tortured and beheaded cadavers litter the country like grisly Dia Los Muertes decorations, yet these malicious politicians continually whine & lie about US guns?. These are tactics to divert attention from their incompetence and failures by blaming an external entity, and hating the "gringos" has always been an easy sell stock in trade for Mexican fat-cat politicians(!). An American city directly across their blood soaked border has a minuscule crime rate in comparison and no armed troops on the street, but plenty of armed citizens and regular Police taking care of business when the crooks act up. No, it's not the US Constitution that is the problem, and dammed sure not mere semi-automatics, when these cartel hitmen are armed with actual full-automatic machine-guns, and explosives (grenades, anti-tank missiles, etc) that are not coming from the US!. These political poltroons are the worst kind of lying, dissembling, totalitarian oligarchs that care only about themselves and any opposition to them, not their citizens (or in Mexico's case, "subjects"...peasants!) just like their opposite numbers here in the USA, with the same anti-gun/self-defense agenda...They need to back off and abandon their Nazified ideas, because Nuremberg has not been that long ago...S9

Reminder:"The Plan" vs. Semi-Autos (4/27')

Daniel Lays out "The Plan" against Semi-Autos in this essay, so don't forget he told you so! Be ready for the fight! "Semper Paratus"!:(S9):
Biding their time on gun control
By Daniel White
When President Obama was running for office, he consistently paid lip service to the second amendment while making comments about certain firearms that belong "on a battlefield, not on the streets of Chicago" and that "our playgrounds have become battlegrounds." He has consistently stated his support for certain types of gun control, even on the White House website.

Yet, gun control supporters have been frustrated thus far by the lack of a push for the kinds of legislation they want (repealing the Tiahrt Amendment, reinstating the "Assault Weapons" ban, closing the mythical "gun show loophole," etc.

Several top ranking members of his administration, including Attorney General Eric Holder, have made statements supporting new gun control measures, only to back off on them after the fact. So far, only what looks to be trial runs have been made, testing for weaknesses in the gun rights movement's armor.

Anti-gun Senator Dianne Feinstein(D-Calif.), recently leaked their plans on CBS program "60 Minutes" when she stated, "I'll pick the time and place. No question about it."

So, what are they all waiting for? 2010.

The last time the Democrats had full control over the United States legislature, they pushed stringent gun control measures through, all of them gleefully signed by then President Bill Clinton. The straw that broke the camel's back was the flawed and failed federal "Assault Weapons" ban, a do-nothing feel-good piece of legislation that banned certain rifles for nothing more than what they looked like. The American public had enough, and the legislature was handed to the Republican party in the next election. Bill Clinton directly blamed the loss on the AWB.

Now, having learned from their mistakes, the Democrats that are back in power are planning carefully. On November 2, 2010, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for grabs. The Democrats will not allow their opposition to the will of the People to again cost them control, so will lay low until after that election. Once their power is assured, they will be free to strike at gun rights and have the next two years to run damage control and try to minimize the issue before the 2012 presidential race.

Avoiding consequences for taking the People's rights isn't easy, but they have a plan.

End of freedom for the Emeralds

Ahern signs new gun control act into law
Justice Minister Dermot Ahern has signed new gun control legislation into law.
The act bans handguns in Ireland
and also introduces a requirement for referees, background medical checks and standards for the safe keeping of guns in the home for all firearms licence applicants. It also makes it an offence to brandish a realistic imitation firearm in public. Mr Ahern says the legislation is designed to halt the emergence of a gun culture in Ireland.

So there you have it. Not with a bang, with not even a wimper, not even a debate! God forbid! The formerly honored and brave Irishmen have been put to heel like curs by a Quisling Police bureaucrat who has removed their right to effective self-defense with a casual stroke of a pen...Gelded, castrated...Callously using the depredations of the criminal minded to neuter the law-abiding. Mightier than the sword indeed. There are many in the USA who dream of being able to do the same tyrannical acts, and are working hard at it, so I say God Bless the 2nd Amendment and all who support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic....(S9)
